Arizona watering holes are not as rare as one might think! There are plenty of spots within hours of the Phoenix area, making for a great day trip to escape our summer heat!
Grasshopper Point, in Oak Creek Canyon just outside of Sedona, is one of my favorites due to ease to access and the option for easy cliff jumping (use your own discretion)!
Tips for visiting Grasshopper Point:
- Drive north from Sedona for about 2 miles on US 89A. The exit for the Grasshopper Point parking lot will be on the east side of US 89A. All roads are paved. Parking is $9 per vehicle and cash only.
- From the parking lot, the easy walk to the watering hole is approximately 10 minutes. The walk is through a dry riverbed of rocks so wear appropriate shoes.
- If the parking lot is full, which it frequently is on weekends, park along US 89 and walk down to the parking lot which provides access to the short trail to the watering hole.
- Follow Leave No Trace practices to help keep the area beautiful!
